![]() Corporate also has no idea how the stores actually run so they will enact policies that make no sense, run sales that literally drain our store’s inventory within days, and will place the blame on the employees rather than themselves. They will regularly give us the bare minimum amount of hours to schedule our employees and our managers rely on metric-based bonuses to make the job worthwhile, so they aren’t going to go over the allotted labor if they can help it. ![]() This is where the huge downside comes in: corporate. Our manager in-store is awesome he cares a lot about the employees and genuinely tries to do what he can to make our lives easier. Obviously, the late hours will take adjustments but for night owls like myself that isn’t as much an issue. Everyone I work with in-store is awesome and the job itself is super easy. I’d say give your local IC a try and if you’re store is good and gets business it’s a great way for a lot of money being a college student or even - more.I have worked as both an in-store employee and now a delivery driver for Insomnia for over a year. Usually at my store there is three sometimes less so less drivers equals more orders equals more pay. How much you make here really depends on the traffic in the area and how many drivers there are working in a night. Being that we are by a Big 10 university we get lots of business always especially during football weekends and on average as a driver I’ve ranged from 18/hour on a not too busy day to 30/hour on super busy days being one of few drivers. This is very good as it’s not like most delivery jobs where if it’s not busy you don’t get much of anything. My store guarantees 15/hour so if you don’t make 15 in an hour with delivery charge per order and tips they will cover the rest to 15 for job security. ![]() There isn’t really a dress code besides a Insomnia Cookies hat and shirt which in the winter is covered by a coat anyways. ![]() My manager is really laid back and doesn’t really care about much as long as your getting the job done and doing it well. My store is by a large university with over 40k students and constantly gets business. That being said I believe it is case dependent on your location and your manager/co-workers how good working at Insomnia as a DELIVERY DRIVER. I’ve worked at Insomnia for about 4-5 months now as a college student doing delivery night shifts and I’d say in that regard the flexibility of the scheduling is good and the work around of going to school in the day and still being able to work is beneficial. However, be warned, this job will make you awfully sick of the smell and taste of cookies no matter how big your sweet tooth is. Despite any negatives of the job, I would have a difficult time leaving my position due to how much I enjoy all my coworkers, as well as the easiness of job tasks. Our store has a welcoming environment to the point where our team of employees feels more like a family, even with our dysfunctional but lovable manager. Some of the most amazing coworkers I have had are at Insomnia Cookies. The pay scale makes it easy to make a decent paycheck if you're lucky enough to work the busy shifts in your store, but drivers who work day shift (like myself) are stuck with the base hourly pay. While in-store workers are able to advance (Baker to Shift Leader) or gain raises over time, drivers are unfortunately not afforded the same opportunity. Our particular store is not as busy as others so most of the time us drivers spend our shifts relaxing in the back of store and occasionally getting up to fold more boxes or take the newest delivery order. As a delivery driver I am fairly satisfied with the work I do being a driver may be one of the easiest jobs I have ever had. ![]() Santa Marta also hosts a number of inland neighborhoods, such as Bavaria, that would be great for full-time living away from the tourist traffic. Underground excavation can also potentially impact the surrounding area’s drainage and groundwater flow. Reason #2: Drainage – Underground Tornado Shelters A septic company or a general contractor can accurately locate and map out the septic system, ensuring that the excavation for the tornado shelter does not damage or interfere with the septic infrastructure. This excavation process may involve digging through the ground where septic lines or tanks are located. Underground tornado shelters typically require excavation and digging to create a space large enough to accommodate the shelter. Reason #1: Excavation – Underground Tornado Shelters This may seem like an unexpected requirement, but there are several reasons why. ![]() Beatrix’s assertion of a female avenger is reiterated only when it conforms to the standardised ‘ masculine perception‘ of an action hero. Throughout the movies, Beatrix is projected to the audience from the lens of the male agents that define her as a blood-spattered angel, co*ksucker, blonde pussy and so on while she continuously attempts to defy their assaultive gaze even in her weakest and most passive moments. It is this rhetoric that has been consistently gratified in the Bride’s character throughout the Kill Bill movies, by ascribing her with traditional masculine attributes, and providinga significance of rarity among her type The sign “ woman” is thus negatively represented as “ not-man,” which means that the “ woman-as-woman” is absent from the film. In patriarchal ideology, the image of women can only signify anything in relation to men. 1-2, some male characters like the Sheriff, the old man namely Esteban who owns a brothel in Mexico, the gravedigger and Budd (Bill’s brother), make comments about Beatrix’ femaleness, blonde hair, eyes and beauty. While the exchange of traditional gender roles, particularly as they relate to the execution of extreme violence might strike a chord with feminist sensibilities, the film’s story arc places an undue focus on female beauty presented to us from a typical male gaze. In a similar fashion, the Kill Bill movies exemplify the male lens by co-opting a gendered enactment of revenge in which the female lead becomes a spectacle, catering to the gaze of the spectator who is made to identify with the male look. She argues that films stimulate visual pleasure by integrating structures of voyeurism and narcissism into the story and the image. In her article Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema, feminist film theorist Laura Mulvey provides us with a diabolic concept of the male gaze reflected in cinemas. However, it becomes crucial to employ a critically nuanced position to understand the perpetuation of female oppression in the cinematic concept of the male gaze. The groundbreaking contention around Tarantino’s Kill Bill is the co-option of violence in a seemingly feminist tone throughout the movies, touting a female lead with supposed agency, on a rampage venture to get back at her abusers after being comatose for a period of four years. Unlike other action movies, Tarantino’s gore and violence have a unique savour to them and seem tolerable with his transitional style of juxtaposing diverse cultural references. With Uma Thurman in the lead, the violence and fight scenes in both the movies are presented as a collage of different genres with some scenes filmed in black and white, some involving a great deal of dialogue, some barely incorporating speaking and a Japanese anime cartoon scene.
